AEPA History Exam

The History test measures your knowledge according to the Arizona Academic Standards. Success on the test indicates that you are qualified to teach history in Arizona public schools. The test content is drawn from three subareas based on AEPA learning objectives: Concepts and Skills (17% of the test); World History (45%); and United States and Arizona History (38%). Test-takers should be proficient in each of these areas, knowing (for example) how to organize, analyze, and evaluate historical information, as well as how history relates to geography. The test covers key events and periods in world history, United States history, and Arizona history (the development of early civilizations, the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, the U.S. Civil War, etc.), major developments in the arts, literature, religion, and philosophy since the Enlightenment, and political, economic, and social movements of the 20th century. In addition, test-takers should know the ideas, values, and institutions that have shaped the culture of the United States, as well as developments in the arts, literature, science, religion, and philosophy. Other content includes immigration and cultural diversity in the continuing development of the United States.
