AEPA French Exam

The French test measures your knowledge according to the Arizona Academic Standards. Success on the test indicates that you are qualified to teach French in Arizona public schools. The test content is drawn from seven subareas based on AEPA learning objectives: Listening Comprehension (16% of the test); Reading and Vocabulary (29%); Language Structures (22%); Cultural Understanding (16%); Foreign Language Methodology (16%); Written Expression; and Oral Expression. Test-takers should be proficient in deriving essential information and inferring meaning from oral communications. In addition, the test covers the literal content and interpretation of authentic materials of diverse periods and forms; the test may also require the completion of French words, phrases, or sentences. The Language Structures section tests knowledge of the grammar and linguistic components of French. Test-takers should also know key features of Francophone cultures (e.g., history, geography, and culture). The test includes content on foreign language methodology and measures skills in both French composition and oral expression, including vocabulary, idioms, grammar, and pronunciation.
